Approach to production
Approach to production
The Minkouma Project has adopted the “Early Contractor Involvement” (ECI) approach, also referred to in French as “Implication Anticipée de l’Entrepreneur (IAE)”. The ECI/IAE model is an approach for delivering large-scale and/or complex projects in which the construction contractor is involved at a very early stage in the preparation process, and subsequently in the construction and/or operation & maintenance phases.This approach has been used with very positive results in the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, Canada, and Australia. In recent years, it has also been successfully implemented in Africa, particularly in power generation projects.
By adopting this approach, the objective of the MINKOUMA Project is to achieve better risk sharing, including quality risks, cost overrun risks, schedule delay risks, and operational performance risks.
The IAE/ECI approach on the MINKOUMA Project is structured around four main stakeholders in the construction process, namely:
- The IAE Contractor;
- The Owner’s Representative / Project Management Assistant (A-MOA);
- The Environmental and Social Consulting Firm (BES-MOA);
- The Independent Laboratory (LI-MOA).
